Sad news

Robbie Cammack sadly missed

Last week a young friend Robbie Cammack aged 19 was killed on the Frendo Spur in the French Alps when he was caught by bad weather and fell whilst retreating of the mountain. Robbie was at Edinburgh University and going into his third year training to be a doctor like his Dad, Adrian who is a good friend. The news has just broken in the local papers. Robbie was such a talented young lad a Scottish hill running champion, competitor at Highland Games events, a lifeguard which helped fund his climbing and biking,a musician and a man who loved the outdoors in its many aspects. He was at the start of a journey that was to take him this summer to the Alps and South America Peru and Argentina mountain biking, snowboarding and climbing this summer. I met Robbie through his father and was assisting him with a paper on mountain incidents for his degree. His humility was incredible for one of so many talents and is a great loss to all. It brings back to me the terrible toll the mountains have taken on so many friends over the years. The loss is even worse as he was such a young lad my thoughts are with Adrian, Gillian, his sister Shona and younger brother Calum.
