Back Home – green fields and daffodils and welcome home sign.

I had a good journey home from Canada all went smooth apart from my hacking cough all the way in the flight from Calgary to Heathrow.  The poor people who sat near me?  I watched two films, the “Iron Lady” and “The Help” on the way . The Iron Lady about Maggie Thatcher was pretty difficult to watch at times but the excellent acting from Meryl  Streep made it an interesting watch and whether you liked Mrs Thatcher  or not it is some film. The effects of power, dementia and grief are well portrayed in this film. The Help is about the treatment of coloured housekeepers in the deep South of America and is excellent. They definitely helped pass the time on the 8 hour flight. Heathrow was all security and lots of building going on for the Olympics – plenty of money spent there! The trip to Aberdeen was easy with very little snow at all on the hills, everything looks so green and the fields are all ready for planting, daffodils are everywhere and the colours are vibrant! Especially after the snow and cold of Canada, it is great to be home, especially when I put the kettle on and looked out of my window to see a great sign! Welcome Home Heavy from Sammi next doors Alsatian dog! It is good to be loved. Will catch up with the blog once the jet lag goes! Thanks to Dave and Sue and family for the great time in Canada it was wonderful and to my climbing mates it was a fun trip and even better that no one got hurt. The boys tried to get a route done on the last day but were lucky to miss some falling ice in the huge thaw that was happening. The Gods shone on them, so easy done trying to squeeze another climb out of a great trip! Lesson learned I think!
