Olympic Rowers – in Henley and a celebration of their success.

Henley Welcome to the Olympic Rowers

Yesterday I managed to get to the Town Hall in Henley where the Olympic Rowers and coaches were having a celebration of their fantastic achievements in the London Olympics.

We were even luckier to have a ticket for entrance to the celebration in the Town Hall. Yvette was back after her 70 odd mile cycle and we got there just in time. I could not believe she was ready to go out about an hour later. It was the longest she had cycled and it had poured for most of the way, she was soaked but so happy. She is training for her part in the Henley race in a few weeks. The time she puts into her training and effort is great to see and you just get a tiny feel of what these athletes have sacrificed to achieve such results. The rowers and coaches were just off an  open-topped bus tour of Henley and the crowds were everywhere. The rowers were all cheered into the Town Hall one by one. Everyone of the Olympians was huge even compared with big Dave Yvette husband and looking incredibly fit happy and powerful. They all  spent time signing the kids autographs it was an incredible occasion. Lexi enjoyed it and we got a few signatures and a photos with her. It was very hot inside  so we did not stay long but we had tasted the magic atmosphere. They were all so good with the kids of all ages and signing everything including the postcards especially made for the day. A fun time and incredible to see these wonderful athletes so close up. The footballers could learn so much from them.
