Newsletter – May 2015
Hello from everybody in the Collie MacKenzie Sculpture Group!

Firstly, a very warm welcome from the Isle of Skye to those of you who have just joined us and many thanks to the rest of you for your continued support. It has been some time since we last sent out a newsletter and, suffice to say, things have moved on quite a bit since then.

So, what has been happening of late?

  • We have recently published a digital booklet documenting our journey so far to create an iconic Scottish landmark and to celebrate two figures of cultural importance here on the Skye. You can view it  here.
  • A new  maquette of the two figures is currently being made as cold cast bronze and will be displayed at chosen locations on completion to highlight the campaign.
  • The Sligachan Hotel are engaging with us on a number of fundraising ideas for the coming season.
  • The families of both John Mackenzie and Norman Collie continue to support our campaign from all parts of the world, near and far.
  • Benches and picnic tables are currently being made to be placed around the car park. We are also hoping to have new interpretation panels showing the site location and a donation box in place for summer 2015.
  • We have given our website and blog a new look and will be updating it regularly. You can read our latest blog post here.

We don’t intend to wait as long as the last time before sending another newsletter, but in the meantime, why not follow our journey on Facebook and Twitter via the links below.

Over the years we have had great support from all of you – people from all round the world, both near and far have supported us. It really has kept us going, and made us as determined as ever to complete the project, so thanks to all of you once again for all your help.
