Parked up last night at the Lawers NTS car park again , it’s got great views , quiet and has good phone reception what else do you need. I only had a short drive this morning up the lovely Glen Lochay , not as nice as Glen Lyon though but just as quiet. Parked at a small car park just short of Kenknock farm and headed off at 8.45 , forecast today was for dry but windy conditions, the sun was out as I headed up the glen as far as Lubchurran , what I thought was a bridge was actually a ford so just picked ( TWD ) and made a dash for it and got away with staying dry, the cottage has been renovated to a very high standard considering its remote location. Up and onto the S grassy ridge which is surprisingly dry , the sun was strong even this early and was soon down to one layer as it was sheltered from the wind , that didn’t last long though 30 minutes later I had everything on hat gloves the lot , the strong wind was baltic and didn’t hang about on Sgiath Chuil just about turned and back to the col and steeply W down to the wide Bealach where once again it was warm out of the wind , some food and drink here before setting of towards the E top of Beinn Glas and onto the summit itself where once again it was freezing , again just kept moving down to the ruin of Batavamie. Followed a zigzag track up before taking the high road ( no not the old TV soap ) SW for a few hundred metres and up the Sron nan Eun ridge to the summit of Creag Mhor , it was looking very grey out west and hoped it wouldn’t come to anything , down the sweeping ridge and found a perfect large snow slope for a big of fun glissading and finally to the wide bealach at the foot of Beinn Heasgarnich , some food before setting off for the final climb of the day , met two fell runners on the way up heading the way I had just come from the first people of the day. Just before the summit two more fell runners maybe It’s me who’s over dressed today , at least I’m warm. The weather held out and I got 4 clear summits again , headed down to Lochan Achlarich again with some superb snow slopes which save the nees immensely, round the side of crags and down the road to Kenknock and the final 2 miles back to the van. Quite a hard day today battling the elements and even though I did use sunscreen my face is extremely wind burnt , job done .
