Well this was the final day of my and Penny’s 100 day adventure in our beautiful Scottish Highlands and Islands , I mentioned on the summit of Ben more on Mull one down 281 to go what could possibly go wrong and to be honest nothing did go wrong , basically stuck to my plan and didn’t have any injuries to curtail my progress .

The midges were awful at the start of the day.

The midges were awful at the start of the day.

Wasn’t really sure how many would turn up this morning and was pleasantly surprised to find around 30 people to celebrate the occasion, there was a couple of surprises though Thomas whom I met on 2 occasions on the Glen Coe hills way back in May and had travelled up from Edinburgh and Faye and Mandy who had set off early and greeted me on the summit. The forecast today was for reasonably conditions early on but getting wet and windy later in the day. We set off at 9.15 and soon spread out up the hillside in small groups , the clag was on the summit but wasn’t long before it began to break up, going up to An Caber on the big staircase path the wind was quite strong but after we reached its cairn it was relatively calm walking along the grassy ridge up to Ben Wyvis.

I was close to the top but went back to find the rest of the party and regroup before getting a archway of walking poles to walk through to the summit trig point . It was a very humbling experience knowing that I had completed the task I had set myself along with my faithful hound Penny TWD. The champagne was opened and the traditional homemade toffee and millionaires shortbread handed round to celebrate the occasion

My hero my Grandpa.

It was cold on top and I felt sorry for the shivering souls who had waited for us to arrive it certainly didn’t feel like summer up there today , pretty much normal conditions for me over the last 100 days.
