James Roddie


Hello everyone,

I’m James Roddie, and I am a photographer of the wildlife and wild places of the Highlands. I write articles for magazines and sell images with a particular focus on the Scottish mountains – whether it be winter mountaineering, mountain wildlife or landscapes. I run a photography website www.jamesroddie.com and a climbing blog http://glencoemountaineer.blogspot.co.uk .

Over the last 6 years I have been based in Glencoe, the Cairngorms, Skye and now the Black Isle – all wonderful landscapes, and all of them have something unique that drew me to them. I moved up to Glencoe with the intention of only staying 5 months, but somehow 4 years passed before I managed to drag myself away. A great deal of those 4 years were spent climbing and hillwalking in every corner of the Highlands and Islands, and along the way I developed a deep appreciation of the wild land that remains…
