A special thought for those who have to work on this Christmas day.

Ready for the big night

Ready for the big night

I had a lovely afternoon  yesterday at the Pantomime with my granddaughter Lexi and her Mum. It was a magic time and I enjoyed Jack and the Beanstock in Henley. The kids and adults all loved it and was great to enjoy the laughter and of this great tradition.

Many have to work over the Festive period and for many years  I did in the Mountain Rescue for nearly 37 years  and in the Aeronautical Rescue Co – ordination  Centre ( ARCC) . I did many incidents over the period and my thoughts are with those who are involved this Festive period.

On the hill on Christmas past!

On the hill on Christmas past!

In the Mountain Rescue we would stay in a v

illage hall usually in Newtonmore of Fort William and would have some great days on the hills as they were quite! It was usually a hard time when we had to go on a call – out at this time.

I had a pal who went missing and I was told he was found safe and well late last night great news for his family at this difficult time.  I appreciate all those who were involved in the search thank you all.

I always volunteered for Christmas and it was usually a busy night especially when working in the ARCC  Also with the  Mountain Rescue Teams in Scotland  we would be out for several days over the period and we would always get a few call -outs latterly for vulnerable people all over the Highlands and sometimes a hill call – out and a late Christmas meal. We were always given great kindness by the local people wherever we stayed. My thoughts are with all those concerned especially the RAF Teams in the UK and especially the RAF Lossiemouth Mountain Rescue Team in the Cairngorms and those in the ARCC and the helicopters all over the UK.

Landing lights ready to go

Landing lights ready to go

Last night was magical we saw Santa in the sky with the help of the Space Shuttle and then sorted out the fire place for Santa and the reindeer with brandy and carrots. We had Landing lights in the garden it was a special night.   It is great that it is still so special for the little people and me.

Thanks Yvette and Dave for a great time xxxx
