- I was told late last night that my interview in Aviemore cancelled so it is a change of plan today, its raining just now and a bit of a thaw coming, the snow needs it. I plan to catch up on some admin and check my gear I need to sharpen the ice tools for the winter fun and check the crampons. If anyone missed it there is now a full on Avalanche forecast for the Torridon area in the West – 7 days.
- The forecast was up to this year weekends only so please have a look his will be a valuable tool for those who climbs in the North West an area that is so worth a visit in winter. It is not so busy and has of so many new and interesting climbs for those who love adventure. Today’s top tip!
Monday 8th February 2016 at 7.30 pm in the Boat of Garden Community Hall with a fantastic talk and presentation by Mungo Ross entitled – It’s about the journey – 50 years in the great outdoors.
As well as being an experienced mountain leader Mungo has also been a professional photographer – so this presentation will cover the people and places he has explored accompanied by superb pictures and interesting insights and anecdotes. The journey started in the Pentland Hills outside Edinburgh and has taken him to the Himalayas, the Andes, Africa and Antarctica, capturing the pristine and magnificent scenery, the intriguing and challenging communities, the impact of adventure tourism on local economies and ecologies and reflections on a life spent on the move in amazing places with incredible people. The Journey continues!
Mungo’s early career was as a professional photographer in the off-shore oil industry, he then migrated to Youth work, introducing disaffected young people to the mountains of Scotland and for the last 20 years he has worked with Jagged Globe, a world leader in climbing, trekking and skiing holidays. Mungo has lead more Jagged Globe trips than any other leader.
