Lyme Disease – worth reading and getting the knowledge about.

A pal Pete Mitchell let me show this photo about tick bites and Lyme disease. I have a few friends who are and have had this awful disease, we are far more aware than ever nowadays about it but please keep your checking for ticks and the problems associated with Lyme disease. Thanks Pete for the update.

I’ve had many tick bites over the years and been lucky enough not to get a Lyme disease reaction, until now! If you’re wondering what it looks like, here is the bite on my right calf muscle. It took about 4 weeks to get to this stage. I’m having a blood tests and the doc has put me on some strong antibiotic for 3 weeks. No side effects from the bite, or the antibiotics yet, but I have been told to keep the sun off me skin, which is not very hard to do in Scotland!

There are also some good images of Lyme disease skin rashes on the LDA web site.http://www.lymediseaseaction.org.uk

Unfortunately blood tests don’t always show evidence of Lymes in the first 8 or so weeks and not all people have rashes such as this, if at all. Check out http://www.lymediseaseaction.org.uk/about-lyme/faq/ for more info.
