Scotland and Football sad days / At least we have the outdoors.

Last night was pretty bad viewing as I watched poor Scotland get well – beaten by England at Wembley. They tried their best but should have scored early on but it was not to be, how sad that we find it hard to win after so many years of some incredible football players especially when I was young. Money has taken over the game I love and the millions of pounds that now finance the game  down South paying inflated wages to average players has helped ruin our game in Scotland.  I was and still am a lover of the great game and watched Ayr United till I joined the RAF. I was at most games and along with my Mum and Dad went home and away.

Mum was terrified that one day I would get arrested as this was the late 60’s and wild days. We used to have so many great players and characters and the wee ground at Ayr Somerset Park was so close to them you could speak to the players. There were some great teams then Celtic European Winners and Rangers were strong and full of real players, who enjoyed the banter. Nowadays it seems to be getting worse and I doubt if I will ever see a Scottish team progress to a major competition.

Today will be a hard day as  I will receive all the jokes today from my many English pals.
