Driving back a bit wintry the hills getting blasted !

The A9 a bit wintry

I had a great Christmas Day with my family at my nieces lovely food and family around. I left Prestwick early and missed the traffic through Glasgow it was a bit wintry past Perth and the A9 empty. There were no speed problems today all going about 40 mph and only one lorry off the road jackknifed!

Past the A9 and Aviemore

It was a slow drive to Dalwhinnie with no views of the hills but a bit of wind higher up would make it hard going! The snow showers were heavy at times and what I could see the hills blasted.  There was little traffic and apart from one crazy guy who tried to overtake in the snow plastered lane it went well!

The Dava Moor and the Jesus stone nearly home!

I was soon in Aviemore and then the Dava Moor another interesting road then home to a windy but snowless Burghead where the Annual Boxing day swim was cancelled due to the weather!

It is great to be back home in the wee house. I cannot wait to get out on the hills after a days Admin and catch up! I would advise caution on the hills as there will be a bit of snow dispersed in these big winds!  Be careful. Always have a look at the weather and the Avalanche Service advice before you go out. It is also worth looking the days before and that will give you some idea of what has been happening in the mountains. Today;s tip.
