Yesterday after dinner we watched an incredible sunset over the “Moray Med” what a night and then it was for me up at 0500 to get ready for the day 7 from Nairn to Brora! We had a great meal that night and I sorted the stuff for the day in warm sunshine but a breeze! Th bikes had been serviced by Outfitmoray and were going great.
The first stop for Yvette and the team was Culloden where Yvette a proud Scott visited the battlefield and met two great pals John and Mary in their vintage bikes that they cycled from Birmingham to Fortwilliam many years ago! It was a short stop as time was moving and ther was a strong wind !
From here it was over the Kessock Bridge at Inverness for breakfast at North Kessock then off to invergordon with Neal and his bike where we had lunch in the ship a great feed down near where all the oil rigs are. There was a head wind but all was going well the bikes holding out and a Yvette and Dan pushed on by Dave despite a head wind were moving well!
After 6 days cycling they were going well and after lunch they stormed on to Tain where they had dram at the Glenmorangie Distillery one of Yvettes ideas! Then it was keep going to Brora about 22 miles away.
About half way from Brora I met a cyclist Danny from Brora who Inchatted to and he was very interested in our ride and the thoughts for Reuben. He had lost his Mum to cancer and with his brother had done John O Groats to Lands End for charity and then did the return journey again by bike !!!
Yvette was wanting to finish as quickly as possible but we were on the A9 and Neal on his motorbike was protecting our team from the odd daft motorist ! The kids Lexi and Ellie Skye were arriving with Vicky (Yvettes Mum) and Jullie earlier and were excited about seeing a Mum again and Dad Dave! I arrived 15 minutes before and was given a great welcome in the van by the girls.
Then they arrived and Vicky, Lexi and Ellie Skye gave a Yvette a huge hug and it was lovely to watch the girls and Vicky’s happiness. Yvette was back to her lovely girls and that was a special moment ! We did think of Reuben and the wee soul is aleatsvin our hearts and thoughts.
We are staying at the Royal Marine Hote accomadation just next to Brora golf course it is stunning!
It is a busy night I missed dinner but caught up with stuff I needed to do tomorrow is a busy day . Day 8 Brora to John o’Groats !Daves Mum and Dad are coming up from Bristol so it will be some gathering!
We are trying to raise £10000 can you help?
This was one of the lovely comments yesterday
“Passed 3 very strong looking cyclists passing Castle Stuart, outside of Inverness on the drive to work this morning! Cycling that road, at that time in the morning takes some dedication and real grit, well done!! Your support vehicle highlighted your cause, will share on my Facebook tonight and hopefully get you some more donations. We wish you all the best for the completion of your amazing undertaking and even more so, we hope that Reuben gets stronger every day 💪😊💜👍🏻🚴🏻🚴♀️”
