A bit icy off the main roads sadly no hill and a bit of a icy welcome winter driving .

After an early appointment at Lossiemouth for my injection no 3 in a week I tried to make the best of a lovely sunrise , the early start and head for my local Corbett Ben Rinnes!

It is normally about 45 minute drive and the views were like the sunrise stunning. The main roads were fine they had been cleared though the hills looked plastered with snow. I tried to cut across the back road which was closed further up ( did I miss the sign?) Sadly the road got worse and was so icy even with snow tyres it was now sheet ice and If I went on I would have needed my snow chains! The sun was out and all was looking great despist it was bitter cold even with the sun!

There was no way I could go on so had a long reverse out (my driving is never great ) I helped a local stuck and the drive round the long way would have taken ages so I headed back home! Several lessons for today learned number 1 – stick to the main roads!

Sadly no hill today but that is life it was a lovely day and I have lots to do. Off the main road it was thick sheet ice in places yet no snow where I live ! Lesson for today keep to the main road ! I had a shovel etc and tow rope to help but a bit of an awakener for me!

Early winter lesson as always learned – the snow looks deep even on Ben Rinnes !
