How often does the media use and misuse phrases like “Legends” “walking in the footsteps of Giants? “

This photo shows the Simple gear and equipment used on the hill 1951 on the recovery of 8 casualties from the Lancaster Crash on Beinn Eighe in that wild winter.

How often does the media get it wrong we have legends and all types of folk becoming a legend? Too me these folk were legends.

Who are your legends?

Mine are the early Mountain Rescuers before helicopters and gear! The Keeper’s , Police and locals who did their bit for folk in trouble.

These are the true Legends yet if we do not tell their stories and who they are there tales will be forgotten for ever!

As the first snow falls on the mountains and we put on all our great gear have a thought of those early days. Heavy nailed boots and simple gear much of it from the war stocks that the only kit available.

We are so lucky with the maps, communications, mobile phones, GPS and state of the art lightweight robust gear !

Who are yours ?

I bet there are few politicians in that !
