A Warm start to the New Year. There is something primeval about a fire outside.

Last night was a grand night with a few friends outside for a fire on the West Coast. Some old wood was collected and we had a fire pit as well. A few friends were about all outside and socially distanced.

A fire outside has a special feel about it it’s primeval to me. We live in such a modern world that few understand what a fire does to the body and soul. It’s even better if there is no internet access folk have to chat. You have to be careful though and leave no trace clean up and what a way to celebrate the New Year.

It started raining about 2215 so we went in but it was such a great day. A walk at Sand in warm temperatures then sort out the fire. There was little drunk ( these days are over) and me and my clothes smelt of woodsmoke as soon as we got inside.

I was lucky I got to speak to a few folk I care about on New Years night on the phone. In all a lovely night.

So hears hoping the New Year brings in a better world. Many folks attitude is changing and I see so many unseen acts of kindness to others. I have had so many great stories from folk replying to the Blog. Thank you all and here’s to a Good 2022 for all. This morning is even warmer with big winds from the South West no snow on the hills but the West is a wonderful place to be especially just now.

Comments welcome

Happy New Year Dave from us all here in Belgium. Spent 2 weeks with Ann, Guy and Celine but going home tomorrow. Your New Years Eve sounds magical. Celine spent it on the beach with her friend and slept under the stars in their sleeping bags – no tent. What a girl.
Looking forward to Spring and my visits to Glencoe.
It will be Stuart’s 30th anniversary this year. Can’t believe he has gone so long. Stay safe and keep well. Love from the Bryan’s and Vandepoels. Xx
