I have had a busy weekend catching up, it has been very wet here so sorted out the kit and caught up on the admin, that makes life so busy. It was a great trip to Knoydart and will go back in the winter if funds allow an incredible area and well worth a visit. I had a lovely bit of Knoydart venison for Sunday lunch, marvellous meat, so tasty and not to expensive. It is great to the local produce available in the area and at a good price. What an area and without the stalking paths moving about on the hills could be difficult and it is great to have to work hard to get the hills done in poor weather. The picture above is a Garron (highland pony) and Stalkers taking a deer of the hill in Knoydart, hard work but part of life in this remote area. I came back to a letter through the door saying that there may be E coli in the water and another that Lime disease is rife in the local forest! The water has been sorted out now but Lime Disease is a difficult thing to control. It is carried by sheep ticks, which get everywhere if you are near ferns heather etc. I have stopped wearing shorts because of them now!
It was awful to see the riots down South, what a mess we are in and it is incredible that this can erupt so quickly. Looting and rioting is a terrible statement of our society and how we are. After Knoydart and its peace and tranquility and the even the midges and rain, I know where I would rather be!
Love the ‘Garron’ photo.
